If you were to ask anyone in the town of Merryweather what the best gift is, they would all say it’s the one that was given to them by the late Mrs. Merryweather. Every year on Christmas Eve, she would leave a wrapped present on each doorstep with a note that said, “Merry Christmas! Love, Mrs. Merryweather.” She always managed to find the perfect gift for each person, and it was always something they needed or wanted.
This year, however, there was no sign of Mrs. Merryweather or her gifts.
If you were to ask the Fairy Godmother Merryweather what her gift to Sleeping Beauty would have been, she’d probably say “a good night’s sleep!” After all, that’s what she is responsible for in the end. But if you pressed her a little further, she might also tell you that her wish for Aurora was for true love’s kiss.
Merryweather is one of the three good fairies who blesses Aurora at her christening. She is tasked with bestowing the gift of song upon the newborn princess. When Maleficent curses Aurora to prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep on her 16th birthday, Merryweather uses her magic to weaken the curse so that instead of dying, Aurora will only fall into a deep sleep.
Of course, it ultimately takes more than just true love’s kiss to break the curse and wake up Aurora – it takes the combined efforts of Merryweather, Flora, and Fauna as well! But without Merryweather’s quick thinking (and magic), Sleeping Beauty might never have had a chance at happiness.
What was Merryweather’S Original Gift Going to Be?
Merryweather’s original gift was going to be a golden necklace. However, she changed her mind and decided to give Snow White a comb and a mirror instead.
What was Merryweather’S Original Gift to Aurora?
Merryweather’s original gift to Aurora was a gown of purest white silk. It was embroidered with silver lilies and tiny glass beads. The sleeves were long and full, the neckline high and round.
The bodice was tightly fitted, and the skirts fell in graceful folds to the ground.
What Gifts Do the Fairies Give Sleeping Beauty?
When Sleeping Beauty is born, the good fairies bestow gifts upon her. Flora gives her the gift of beauty, Fauna gives her the gift of song, and Merryweather gives her the gift of goodness. However, the evil fairy Maleficent curses Sleeping Beauty to die when she pricks her finger on a spinning wheel’s needle.
The good fairies modify Merryweather’s gift so that instead of dying, Sleeping Beauty will fall into a deep sleep for one hundred years. When Prince Phillip awakens her with true love’s kiss, she wakes up and they live happily ever after.
What was Thistlewits Wish for Aurora?
When Thistlewit makes his wish for Aurora, he wishes that she would be able to find true love and happiness. This is a rather selfless wish, as it does not directly benefit him in any way. However, Thistlewit clearly cares for Aurora deeply and wants her to be happy above all else.
It is a touching moment between the two characters, and one that speaks to the deep bond they share.

What Happened in the Palace Garden During the Hundred Years That Sleeping Beauty Slept?
When Sleeping Beauty was born, the good fairies were invited to her christening. Each of them blessed the child with a special gift. The first fairy blessed her with the gift of beauty, the second with the gift of song, and the third with the gift of dancing.
However, an evil fairy named Maleficent was not invited because no one liked her. When she found out about Sleeping Beauty’s christening, she was very jealous and angry. She crashed the party and placed a curse on Sleeping Beauty that said when she turned sixteen years old, she would prick her finger on a spindle and die.
The good fairies were able to weaken the curse so that instead of dying, Sleeping Beauty would fall asleep for one hundred years. The Palace Garden is where all of this took place. It is a beautiful garden located in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
After Maleficent placed her curse on Sleeping Beauty, everyone in the kingdom fell asleep except for two fairies who were tasked with watching over Sleeping Beauty until she woke up again. These two fairies take turns every twenty years to come into the palace and check on Sleeping Beauty to make sure she is still asleep and hasn’t been harmed in any way. The Palace Garden is a peaceful place that has been untouched for one hundred years.
The flowers are still blooming and the trees are still green because they are being taken care of by magic. It is said that if you listen closely, you can hear music playing from within the castle walls even though there has been no music played there since everyone fell asleep!
Merryweather’s gift would have been a magic wand that could grant wishes. However, the wand was broken and only had enough power to grant three wishes. Merryweather used her first wish to save Snow White from the Evil Queen’s curse.
Her second wish was used to turn the Queen into a harmless dove. Merryweather’s third and final wish was to give Snow White and the Prince a happy ending.
