There were some old books, a blanket, and some other things in the secret place. They were excited to find this secret place and they wondered who had been hiding things there.

Scout and Jem find a number of things in the tree: two Indian head pennies, a gold ring, and a broken watch. They also find a note from someone called Dolphus Raymond. The note says that the person who finds it should keep one of the pennies and give the other to Atticus Finch.
