He then goes on to say how these gifts are to be used within the church body: “For our bodies do not belong to us alone but also to others…if one part [of the body] suffers…all parts suffer with it…if one part is honored…all parts share its honor” (1 Cor 12:12-26). From this passage alone, we can see that these gifts were given by God for two main reasons: firstly, to build up His Church; and secondly ,to help us serve others well.
Yes, the gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today! Just as God is still active and working in the world, so too are His gifts available to us. These gifts include things like wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, and miracles.
When we ask God for help, He can choose to provide us with one or more of these gifts to meet our needs.
One way that we see the evidence of the gifts of the Holy Spirit at work today is through people who have been healed from serious illnesses. Doctors may not be able to explain how someone has recovered from a terminal illness, but we know that it is because God has intervened.
We also see people who have been given supernatural knowledge or wisdom in order to help others. The Holy Spirit gives us these gifts so that we can use them for His glory and to bless others.
